Poetic Scientist

Earlier this year I attended the “Past, Present, Future” art show.  While I was walking around, taking in some of the atmosphere, a display of artwork on the back wall behind the DJ caught my attention.  One of the paintings, in particular, was a blue-themed side portrait of our Commander-in-Chief.  That painting alone sparked my interest enough to make me want to find out this artist was.  But, that night, I didn’t get the chance to meet the artist; despite unknowingly passing him up all night long.  A couple of months later when I revisited the same gallery, I recognized a young man walking around the gallery.  Somehow or another, we began conversing and he informed me he was the artist behind the display I saw at the last art show.  This young cat was one of the artists I was looking for.  I had to feature him here on The Urban Advocate.  So my people, allow me to introduce to you Breahlyn Marquez Mosley.

Breahlyn Marquez represents the Grand Prairie area of Dallas, TX.  As talented as Breahlyn appears to be, it surprised me as it may surprise some of you that art was not always a path he thought he would take.  Breahlyn’s artistic journey began in the sixth grade.  Much like other young artists, Breahlyn started out sketching and tracing cartoon characters from the programs he used to watch.  As his talents began to flourish, Breahlyn he started testing his skills by drawing things just by looking at them.  Breahlyn put his art on the back burner so he could focus on school and sports.  But as he got closer to graduating from South Grand Prairie, Breahlyn picked his art back up and kept at it.  Breahlyn honed his skills while attending college in Irving, TX by taking classes that help him sharpen skills he had and helped him discover he didn’t realize he possessed.  Breahlyn recalls, “I painted a picture and won an award for it, in an art show at school, and that's when I decided to stick with it.”  From that point on, Breahlyn’s focus would be art.

Now days, Breahlyn is not only a respected painter, but he is also a clothing designer and he makes music.  An what inspires his creativity? “The things that inspires my work is, the urban life style,” Breahlyn says.  “I love hip hop and graffiti, and my imagination travels, I try to put that all in one when I'm creating something.”  Breahlyn has had his art featured in numerous art shows including the “Hotter than Hell” exhibit at the F6 Gallery.  Aside from doing art shows, Breahlyn has also been at work designing his T-shirt line entitled Sirius Martian.  He founded the line in 2009 Sirius Martian and has been at work trying to create a line with a unique sense of style and its own flavor of fresh.  Breahlyn has also been dabbling in the music game, working on producing music.  Not to mention, Breahlyn recently designed the mixtape cover for Teezy a.k.a. Allido Isball Showcazin’ Skillz, an artist associated with recently famed Dallas rapper Dorrough.  This multi-talented young man has the artistic prowess to succeed in whatever field he decides to pursue.

Breahlyn Marquez is a true artist.  He has tried his hand in everything from music, art and clothing design.  But Breahlyn’s refusal to get complacent is thing that’s going to take him as far as he wants to go.  “My plans for the future are to get better at my art,” he proclaims.  That mentality is what sets the successful artists from the rest of the pack.
