Pride of the Projects

A few months ago, I introduced you to Big Suave, The Mayor of Oak Cliff.  If you recall, I wrote about the mixtape that introduced me to The Mayor as an artist all those years ago (not really that many years ago).  Well, on that exact same mixtape, I met another young lyricist on the rise.  This emcee had a dominating presence on the microphone that made him as equally powerful as his tag team partner, The Mayor.  As the second half of the Dirty Rotten Skoundrelz, he’s a great balance for Big Suave.  As an individual, he is easily one of the more gifted lyricists from Dallas, TX.  For any emcee who thinks he may be a problem, this Dallas Zu representative may very well be the solution to that problem.  Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, this is “The Pride of the Projects”, Young Don.

Young Don was born and raised on the West side of Dallas, TX.  Being raised on the notoriously rough side of town, gave Don a drive that would push him for the rest of his life.  “Growing-up hard made me go hard,” Don declares.  According to the gifted lyricist, he first discovered his knack for rhyming at the tender age of three.  That information probably wouldn’t surprise you, if you knew his family history.  You see, Young Don is the younger brother of the underground rap veteran, Big Pharaoh.  Having that in house influence, coupled with growing-up listening to legends like Tupac, Big Pun, Ice Cube and Scarface, it shouldn’t be hard to figure out how Don became such a lyrical force.  After a chance meeting with Big Suave, the two giants began to collaborate with one another.  From that point forward, anyone who dared to pick up a microphone would have to contend with the twin towers known as, the Dirty Rotten Skoundrelz.

Young Don’s music is driven by his love for good music, life, anger and current events.  His voice alone gives him a very powerful presence that allows him to demand attention on any track he graces.  His intricate, agile flow and delivery combined with his immense vocabulary is a testament of Young Don possessing the flair that great emcees are made of.  Not to mention the incomparable arrogance that gives Don a charismatic air that could convince any skeptic he is one of those great emcees.  Don has made appearances on numerous mixtapes including The Arsenal, School for Skoundrelz and Socially Irresponsible.  But Young Don refuses to ge comfortable there as he has many projects in the works.  Don is working on future projects such as Pride of the Projects Vol. 1, The Formula and Skoundrel Muzik.  Along with his music endeavors, Young Don is currently serving as a co-host on one of RKN Networks’ popular internet radio shows, Dirty Rotten Radio.  Talent, confidence and a tireless work ethic is pushing this young man right into the future he sees for himself.  “I plan to go all the way to the top,” he pronounces.  As he and his comrades march forward, Don remains focused on his pursuit to be mentioned with some of his heroes in the hip-hop community.  “I’m striving for longevity.  [And] for the future I plan to use my accomplishments from rap to move into film, charity and community activism.”

Young Don is a phenomenon on record.  He has a track record that could some mainstream rappers to shame.  Whether he’s standing alone, next to the other half of the Dirty Rotten Skoundrelz, or as one of the many members of the Dallas Zu, Young Don is a force to be reckoned with.  With his gift of putting words together and his incredible work ethic, it’s only going to be a matter of time before the right people in the right position give Don his crack at hip-hop prominence.  So, West Dallas please stand-up and salute, “The Pride of the Projects.”
