Missy Elliot, arguably one of the most innovative artists in hip-hop history, is now being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
A few years ago, Jay-Z made history by becoming the first hip-hop artist to be recognized by the Hall of Fame. Last year, Jermaine Dupri became the second to be inducted; this year Missy is being added to the short list of hip-hop artists to receive such a high honor for her pen game.

The Grammy Award winning artist has been responsible for dozens of chart-topping hits as an artist, producer and songwriter. She's also won multiple awards including MTV's VMA Awards, ASCAP Awards, American Music Awards and more.

Some of Elliot's biggest hits include "Sock It 2 Me", "Get Your Freak On" and "Work It". Missy has also produced and wrote songs for the likes of Aaliyah, Total, SWV, Destiny's Child and many more.

“I want to CONGRATULATE all the AMAZING songwriters who have been inducted into the 2019 ‘Song Writers Hall of Fame,” Elliott tweeted Saturday morning. “also those who were nominated because their body of work is AMAZING… I AM SO HUMBLY GRATEFUL to now be inducted also.”
