At the end of 2019, most people had big dreams for the coming year. All over the internet we saw "#2020Vision"; people were claiming to have a clear vision for the year 2020 and it would be their year for more success and prosperity than they had ever seen in their lives. However, most of everyone's plans and hopes for the year came to a screeching halt within in the first three months due to a potentially life-threatening virus spreading rapidly across the planet forcing the majority of the Earth's population into quarantine. According to reports, not only has this virus claimed hundreds of thousands of lives all over the world to-date but it has quite possibly caused irreversible damage to the world's economy. Companies have been forced to shut down, unemployment rates are an all time high and people are struggling to find out how they're going to make ends meet. One can't help but wonder if anyone saw that coming with their #2020Vision?
People are struggling to find the words to express how they feel about the current state of the world. One up-and-coming artist from New York by the name of EMMA LEE, has not only found the words to eloquently articulate the thoughts and feelings of millions of people across the planet, but she has also crafted an anthem for these unprecedented times entitled, "Dear Corona". While other artists have seemingly taken a more light-hearted approach to addressing the pandemic, Emma Lee has decided to dive head first into the wreckage and explore the damage that the virus has caused to the planet.

In a recent interview, we were blessed with the opportunity to speak with this dynamic artist. During this near hour-long conversation, we got the chance to discuss her life, her artistry and her thoughts on many of the recent headlines across the country, including the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbury. She reflects on her childhood, being from Uganda and moving to New York City, as well as how the Black Panthers and her studies of political science influences her music and her approach to life.
