On the surface of the momentum appears to be leaning in favor of Power 105, with Martinez joining the line-up and The Breakfast Club being nationally syndicated morning show. Hot 97, however, has made multiple changes to their line up but is still one of the most prominent radio stations in hip-hop. We'll wait to see how far this goes. I for one find this feud more entertaining than the Meek Mill/Drake feud.
So as the feud between Meek Mill and Drake continues to unfold, it seems to have woken a sleeping giant. On Monday (7/27), Funkmaster Flex promised the world that he would premiere a new diss track from Meek Mill - in response to Drake's recent diss record "Charged Up". Excited fans tuned in to hear this response only to be disappointed that there wasn't one, or at least it wasn't going to air on Funk Flex's show that night.
Never missing an opportunity to poke fun at the competition, Tuesday morning (7/28) The Breakfast Club wasted no time antagonizing the situation by taunting Flex holding a eulogy for Flex during Charlamagne tha god's segment, "Donkey of the Day". Check out the clip below.
Well, it didn't take long for the news of this taunting to reach the morning crew over at Hot 97. Ebro, the host of the morning show didn't take too kind to Charlamagne's antics. Not only did Ebro accept the heat for Hot 97's failed attempt to release scoop their competition on the exclusive Meek Mill diss track, but he also took the time to address Power 105 and The Breakfast Club directly on air. Check out Ebro's response.
The rivalry between these two New York radio stations is nothing new, though, it appeared to be at a cease fire over the past year. Even after "The Voice of New York" Angie Martinez left her post at Hot 97 to join forces with it's competitor Power 105, everything remained relatively quiet. Seems as if that is now over.
