With just a few days left until Christmas, I have to be quite honest...this year doesn't exactly feel like Christmas season. I don't know, maybe because it feels like spring time outside, or maybe because people just don't get in the "holiday spirit" anymore, or because I don't have cable so I haven't been bombarded with Christmas ads every time I turn on my television. Who knows? All I know is that it's a few days before Christmas and I'm definitely not as excited about this time of year as I was when I was a kid. Maybe you're like me and you need a little help getting into the Christmas spirit. Or maybe you'll have a few days off from work and just need something to keep you entertained through the holiday spirit. Either way, you know we got you covered! What we've done over here at The Urban Advocate is compiled a list of movies that if you can watch that will help put a smile on your face for Christmas. 5. The Family Man ![]() Now I know some of you may have either never heard of this movie or never seen it. But if you like a classic film set around the Christmas season, this is a good one to check out. The movie stars Nicholas Cage and however brief, this film features one of my favorite performances from Don Cheadle. Seeing as how the importance of family is a common theme throughout the movie, this would be a good one to sit the kids down and watch during this season! 4. Black Nativity ![]() Maybe you're into Christmas musicals? Well, Black Nativity is a musical set in modern times about a family struggling with forgiveness and redemption as they deal with old family secrets. This film also features a star-studded cast including Forrest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson and Tyrese. This is definitely one worth checking out. 3. Friday After Next ![]() Maybe you're not into all that drama and just want a few laughs for the holiday. Well Friday After Next is packed full of laughs. The 3rd installment in Ice Cube's Friday series brings the Christmas cheer to the hood. This may not be one you want to watch with the kiddos around. As a matter of fact, you may want to wait until the kids are sound asleep and the adult beverages are flowing before you throw this one on. But Friday After Next is one that'll add a little joy to your holiday season! 2. Enemy of the State ![]() Maybe you're not looking for a laugh and you want to see a little action. Well, Enemy of the State is sure to liven up any silent night. Though this movie isn't exactly a Christmas movie per say, it is set during the Christmas season and therefore qualifies as a Christmas movie in my book. This is probably one of Will Smith's best performances on screen and his chemistry with co-star Gene Hackman makes this one a classic. 1. The Best Man Holiday ![]() The Best Man Holiday is one of the newest films on this list but is one of the best Christmas movies I've seen. The sequel to the 1999 film, The Best Man, catches up with this group of old college friends over a decade after the wedding that took place in the original film. There's plenty of drama and laughter in this film but I'm willing to say that there is something in this film for everyone. Now of course we couldn't fit every Christmas movie on this list and there are so many classics that was left off. I mean you have Home Alone, Bad Santa, This Christmas, The Preacher's Wife...there's enough flicks out there to make a whole 'nother list.
